Life assured

The life assured, also called the insured, is the person covered under an insurance contract. In some cases, the policyholder and the life assured are different people, such as when a mother owns the policy and her child is the person insured.

The life assured is the person the insurance is actually protecting. The person paying for the policy can sometimes be someone else.
