Expense Ratio

DEFINITION

An expense ratio is the percentage of a fund's average net assets that represents the fees charged to investors for managing the fund. It includes management fees and operating costs such as administration, marketing, and distribution expenses.

It is the small yearly fee taken from a fund to pay for running it. The higher the expense ratio, the more of your money goes to fees.
